Corundum Mullite Brick

Corundum-mullite bricks are made from corundum and mullite as the main raw materials, with the addition of appropriate amounts of alumina and silica ultrafine powders and additives, and fired at high temperatures in an oxidizing atmosphere. Their Al2O3 content ranges from 72% to 90%. The corundum-mullite brick blanks are formed using a 300t friction press, with a blank density of 2.7 g/cm³. The blanks are dried in a tunnel dryer. The inlet temperature is 40-50℃, the maximum drying temperature is 130℃, and the drying time is 48 hours, with the moisture content of the blanks not exceeding 1.5%. The products are fired in a tunnel kiln at a firing temperature of 1550℃ for 10 hours.

二.Forming Methods for Corundum-Mullite Bricks

(1) For refractory products with complex shapes and large dimensions, pneumatic hammering or vibration molding is used.

(2) For ordinary products or standard sizes, semi-dry high-pressure molding can be used.

(3) For irregularly shaped or special products, a mold needs to be designed, and isostatic pressing is used.

三. Advantages and Characteristics of Corundum Mullite Bricks

(1) High temperature resistance, high refractoriness, and high load softening temperature.

(2) Chemical corrosion resistance, with strong resistance to acidic solutions or slag.

(3) Oxidation resistance. It does not easily react chemically with gases such as O2, H2, and CO.

(4) Good thermal stability, stable volume at high temperatures, and not prone to expansion or contraction.

(5) Good thermal shock resistance, resistant to rapid cooling and heating, and not easily spalling.

(6) High compressive strength at room temperature, not easily worn during handling or unloading. Physical and Chemical Indicators of Corundum Mullite Bricks  Uses of Corundum Mullite Bricks: Corundum mullite bricks can directly contact flames, are resistant to spalling, and are high-temperature resistant. They can be used as thermal insulation lining for high-temperature industrial furnaces, and also as the working layer of other industrial high-temperature kilns. They are mainly used in the petrochemical industry, large and medium-sized synthetic ammonia gasification furnaces and magnetic material gas furnaces, and as materials for supporting facilities of high-temperature industrial kilns.
