Fused Magnesia

Electro-fused magnesia is a high-purity oxide formed by melting high-quality magnesite ore in an electric arc furnace at high temperatures. It mainly comes in three types: 1. Ordinary electro-fused magnesia, 2. Low-silica, high-calcium electro-fused magnesia, and 3. Large-crystal electro-fused magnesia.

二.Classification of fused magnesia

1. Ordinary electrofused magnesia products are mainly made by high-temperature melting of magnesite with a content of over 47% or light-burned magnesia in an electric arc furnace.

2. Low-silica, high-calcium electrofused magnesia products are mainly made from low-silica magnesite as raw material, smelted in a high-temperature electric furnace. Low-silica, high-calcium electrofused magnesia is a good raw material for medium-frequency induction furnace smelting, high-manganese steel, stainless steel, high-chromium steel, high-grade basic bricks, carbon-containing products, and unshaped refractory materials.

3. Large-crystal electrofused magnesia production process: Large-crystal electrofused magnesia is mainly produced by melting selected high-grade natural magnesite or high-quality high-purity light-burned magnesia granules in an electric arc furnace.

三.Characteristics of fused magnesia

Its main characteristics are: complete structure, dense texture, high melting point (up to 2800℃), stable chemical properties, high compressive strength, strong insulation performance, resistance to erosion and corrosion. It is an important raw material for metallurgy, building materials, light industry, furnace linings, and bulk materials.

Its main uses are: in the metallurgical refractory industry, it is used to produce high-purity electrofused magnesia, patching materials, ramming materials and other auxiliary refractory materials, as well as special refractory bricks such as pouring spout bricks, magnesia bricks, and magnesia-chrome bricks. It can also be used as a refractory lining in vacuum and non-vacuum induction furnaces and electric arc furnaces. It is an ideal raw material for making magnesium oxide crucibles, furnace linings, and various high-temperature sleeves.
